4th Tuesday at Great Lakes Capital Fund

Join us for November’s Networking Event 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 18 at Great Lakes Capital Fund! Please note this month's networking event will be held the THIRD Tuesday of the month due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Here’s a little bit about our host and sponsor!

Great Lakes Capital Fund (GLCF) is a full service community development finance institution that has been in operation for 21 years and manages over $2.95 billion in the community redevelopment space. This includes successfully investing in over 635 affordable housing developments, representing 39,000 units, which have served over 97 thousand low to moderate income people. In addition to its housing investments, GLCF manages over $360 million of New Markets Tax Credits in economic development. GLCF also provides lending services through one of its companies, Capital Fund Services, as a Fannie Mae Affordable Housing lender and FHA affiliations. GLCF is a member of the National Association of State and Local Equity Funds.

GLCF’s service footprint includes Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, upstate New York and Delaware. With six offices nationwide, they are headquartered in the heart of REO Town Lansing, where half of the 77 finance and real estate professionals that compromise the GLCF family work.

A big thank you to GLCF for hosting and sponsoring November’s Networking Event!

Business Breakfast with Bob Trezise

Join us for the next GRC Business Breakfast featuring Bob Trezise, local economic guru and community leader.

Bob Trezise has been President and CEO of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) since November 2011.  LEAP operates an economic development program that incorporates the tri-county area of Greater Lansing including the Lansing Regional SmartZone, as well as the area’s Business Development program.

Bob had been President and CEO of the Lansing Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), appointed by Mayor Bernero in January of 2006.  Bob completely reorganized the LEDC into a dynamic organization, resulting in 50-year historic achievements for the city in economic development, helping the private sector create over 5,200 jobs, rehab scores of abandoned buildings including the long vacant Power Station plant in downtown on the riverfront into the new national corporate headquarters for Accident Fund, all totaling over $700 Million in private investment.

In 2011, Bob was also named by the Michigan Economic Developers Association (MEDA) as the state’s Top Economic Development Professional and received two awards from the International Economic Development Council recognizing the “Accident Fund” project in downtown Lansing as the world’s best economic development project in two different categories, the only one to do so in 2011.

Networking begins at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast refreshments provided by the Henry Center, and the speaker presentation to begin promptly at 8 a.m.

Our Mission

The Grand River Connection seeks to develop a stronger network to support Lansing and East Lansing’s young and vital workforce. We exist to bring together young professionals in our community who are in their 20’s and 30’s. Our diverse, non-partisan group provides fun, social, and professional connections that encourage economic growth and community involvement where we live, work, and play.

Our History

The Grand River Connection was founded in Spring 2005 to fill a gap in the community. Greater (East) Lansing is a great place for college students and a great place to raise a family, but for those in between there was no viable social network. With a goal of filling that gap in mind, the GRC was born.

Young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s in the Greater Lansing area are welcome to join the group, and joining is very simple. There are NO membership fees, and most of our events are FREE! Simply sign up for our monthly newsletter by clicking the big button at the top right of this website.
